In-place editing fixes the loop
Smart Edit, our new editing mode powered by FLUX Kontext, takes the image you already have and applies just the change you wanted — without a mask, without a re-roll.
You type the directive in plain English:
- "Remove the watermark"
- "Change the sky to golden hour"
- "Make her outfit red"
- "Add a subtle film grain"
- "Replace the background with a beach"
Everything else stays exactly where it was. Faces unchanged. Lighting preserved. Layout intact. Only the directed change applied.
How it works
FLUX Kontext is a multimodal flow architecture from Black Forest Labs that excels at local edits and global identity-preserving transforms. Where mask-based editors need you to paint a region first, Kontext infers the locality from natural language. You can say "the cup" and it knows which cup. You can say "the background" and the subject stays fixed in place.
We use two tiers:
- Pro — fast iteration, 3–6 seconds per edit.
- Max — best prompt adherence and typography (e.g. when the edit involves rendering text inside the image).
Smart Edit defaults to Pro; the platform lets you opt into Max for final renders.
The new iteration loop
The change in feel is hard to explain until you've tried it:
- Generate a candidate.
- Look at it. List the three things you want to change.
- Smart Edit each one in turn — 30–60 seconds per pass.
- The 95% you loved is still there. You just iterate the 5%.
Multiply that by a 30-post content calendar and the time savings are real. The campaigns we're seeing teams ship in a week used to take three.
